About the teacher
Welcome to our Preschool Special Education Classroom! We are so excited to have you as part of our learning family! Here, we believe that every child deserves a nurturing environment where they can thrive. Our classroom focuses on fostering growth through play, with hands-on activities that help build essential skills in a fun and engaging way. We embrace each child's unique learning journey and strive to meet them where they are, using individualized strategies to support their development.
In addition, we incorporate Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), sign language, verbal and preverbal speech to ensure all students have a voice, providing them with tools to express themselves and engage meaningfully. Together, we'll create a space where your child feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential!
A little bit about me, I received my Bachelors Degree in Child Development and Early Childhood Special Education Credential from California State University Los Angeles, where I also received a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Special Education. Before becoming a teacher, I previously worked as an instructional aide in preschool and elementary classroom settings, working with students with special needs including Autism and other various disabilities.
In 2024, I was named Beardslee's Teacher of the year, followed by being awarded Teacher of the Year by Duarte Unified, Los Angeles County and then ultimately, California's Teacher of the Year! It has been the honor of my life being able to represent Early Childhood Special Education at the state level and share all of the incredible things our students can do! I am thrilled to be teaching my 15th year at Beardslee Academy where teaching my class is truly the privilege of my life!
