Meet the teacher

Hi, I’m Mariela Avila and I am thrilled to be an Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Teacher here at Beardsley Academy. I have 15 years of experience working with young children, holding a Master’s degree in ECSE and in Curriculum and Instruction, 1998 Applied Behavior Analysis and a credential in ECSE.

My teaching philosophy is centered on creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every child can thrive and reach their fullest potential. I believe that early intervention is key to helping children with special needs develop crucial skills, and I am passionate about making learning fun, engaging, and tailored to each child’s individual strengths.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy traveling, spending time with my family and mentoring future teachers, which helps me stay balanced and inspired in my work. I am so excited to work alongside parents and colleagues to support our students’ growth and success!
